THE MENTALLY CHALLENGED CHILDREN

The Ashrayadham School was founded in November 2005 for a noble cause to provide the special school opportunities for the Mentally Challenged children of Anakapalle and surrounding villages where there are no such facilities. The Sreya Foundation took this broad challenge as a privilege to run the school as a part of its voluntary Services and continuing the same with utmost dedication and commitment. The school started its Residential Rehabilitation Training from the year 2013

About the School:

The School provides a free Day care & Residential Rehabilitation Training Centre for the Mentally Challenged boys and girls. The Training programmes target at Functional academics, Life Skills training, Social Skills Training, Vocational Skills, Speech Therapy, Physiotherapy and Medical facilities etc to enable them to carry out their independent living. At present we have

The Institute which started with 5 students in 2005 is now providing the Training facility to nearly 73 students of Anakapalle and nearby villages.

Location:

The school is located at #12-5-39, Besides Dr. Vijayalakshmi Hospital, New Colony in Anakapalle town of Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, India.

Residential Services :

The school offers limited Hostel facility for the Mentally Challenged. The services are very qualitative with personal and professional care.

The School Building:

At present the school runs in a rented accommodation in Anakapalle. The building can easily accommodate 25 Hostlers and 100 day care students. The school has good water and Toilet facilities and a small Play area. We are planning to acquire a permanent building with the help of the government as well as individual donors. The building provides a barrier free environment to suit the Mentally Challenged children, Children with Cerebral Palsy and even Spastic children.

Infrastructure:

Both the school and the Hostel have well maintained and well planned infrastructure. Sufficient seating arrangement and educational assistive devices like charts, toys, books, Models, Tape Recorder, Computer, CD’s, Cassettes, Books, Aqua Guard for drinking water etc. We have fans, lights, beds and other minimum requirements for the Hostel and the school. They are acquired from donors and some from our own funds.

Funds:
The school is running on purely charity basis. Most of the Parents come from very poor socio-economic back grounds. No fee is collected from any of the student. We are getting very minor amounts and articles from the individual donors. We have been managing the expenditure from our own funds. The school expenses include the rent of the building, Electricity, Salaries of the Teachers and the Staff, Stationary, expenditure for functions, miscellaneous expenditure etc. The entire amount is borne by the Sreya Foundation only.

Contributions in any form will highly be appreciated
